Presentation Evening Monday 12th June 8.30pm Railway Working Men's Club
The committee met last night (Feb 13th) to discuss a number of matters.
First up was the subject of rearranged fixtures. Now, whilst it is disappointing that so many fixtures on Valentines day have been postponed despite being published in September we understand this and despite what you may have heard no team has been punished or told to forfeit a match. ALL games have been rearranged and this has meant extending the season and pushing back the Presentation Evening. That is now penciled in for May 9th.
If your team has postponed a game then please check the fixture section where you will find a full and up to date list including the games mentioned.
Second up was the resignation of Chris Hopewell. Sadly his resignation was accepted but only after attempts to persuade him to change his mind failed. Since then a number of issues have been raised on the Facebook page, all of which have been explained. If however anyone is unhappy with how the committee is running this league then please feel free to contact us and we will answer you directly.
Third item was a discussion about the Competition rules, as there was a bit of a mix up at the pairs event. Division 2 teams played 501 but Division 1 teams played 801. A pure oversight on the night, both the pairs and singles events should be 501, double start, double finish. Best of 3 in the rounds and best of 5 in the final. There is also no expectation to sign up to the comps before hand, you are more than welcome to just turn up on the night by 8.15pm at the latest.
Fourth item was a discussion about the Team Cup and Shield format. We have had lots of negative feedback about the format and in the near future we will be holding a poll on the Facebook page to see if the majority want to go back to the old format. Watch this space for that.
Fifth item was a discussion about the rules not being the clearest, especially around match postponements, This will be looked at further at the end of the season, it would be farcical to change any rules now.
The sixth and final item was a run through of the finances of the league and a reminder that the committee members should be setting an example behavior wise. If we have fallen short in that regard we do sincerely apologize but none of us are perfect and every effort will be made to ensure high standards are maintained from here on in.
With regards to finances, we currently have a total of £1076 in the bank, this does not include sponsor monies from the 2 Competition venues or the proceeds from the Division 2 pairs night which is yet to be received by the Treasurer. We expect that figure to rise to somewhere around the £1450 mark, all of which will be pumped back into the league in some form or other.
Thank you for your continued support of this league and if you have any questions for the committee please do not hesitate to contact one of us.
